Make Your Instagram Page Aesthetic AF
TikTok is all about anti-aesthetics, but Instagram? Not so much. Instagram is home to the aesthetic feeds. And while people are craving authenticity and leaning more and more into messy creativity, they’re doing so in a way that remains aesthetically pleasing.
Now, we’re not saying you need to spend hours optimizing your feed. Because the truth is, there are tons of people making millions with crap feeds. But having a feed that is easy to read, digest and consume is great for first impressions — especially for industries like fashion, beauty, photography and luxury goods.
Choose a Brand Vibe and Stick with It
Whether you’re into aesthetics or not, the first thing any brand needs to do is choose a vibe and stick with it. When you use the same colors, fonts, icons and editing styles, your brand becomes easily recognizable and will keep your fans coming back for more.
- Use consistent colors in all of your posts and Reels. If you have a website, these should ideally match your overall branding.
- Choose two to three fonts and try to use the same font style (bold, italic, uppercase, lowercase).
- Create post templates in Canva to create a cohesive carousel style. This will make it a lot easier for you to create content, too!
- Use the same icons throughout your posts and try to get creative! Custom icons are always better than generic ones that are seen everywhere.
- Choose a few sound effects and editing styles and use them repeatedly in your Reels.
Use Engaging Highlight Covers
Your highlights are a hotspot for potential followers because they make it easy for people to consume your most relevant content. You can make these however you like; some people prefer to keep them in plain colors, while others choose icons. The style is up to you, just make sure they are engaging so that people actually click on them.
Some of the most popular Instagram highlights are:
- Services overview
- Testimonial collections
- Signature series
- Freebies or quick links to blogs
- Process explanation (what it’s like to work with you)
Use Fun Text & Icons In Your Bio
Instagram bios are so underrated! Not only is this the first thing that someone sees when they land on your page, but it’s the perfect opportunity for you to convince someone to stick around.
Instead of using plain text, throw in some fun emojis or check out cute symbols that you can copy and paste into your bio to create more of an aesthetic feed.
Just don’t overdo it because while aesthetics are important, your words mean a hell of a lot more! Use your space wisely.
Choose Relevant Pinned Posts
Your pinned posts will likely be the first pieces of content that get consumed by prospective followers, so make ‘em count! Depending on your niche, you may prefer Reels, carousels or a mix of both. And don’t feel like you need to use all three. If one makes sense for your brand, that’s cool too.
The most important thing to consider with pinned posts is using an aesthetic cover photo and a fire ass hook to suck people in right off the bat.
Create Aesthetic Reel Covers
Reel covers are so insanely goated because they let you change the look of your feed at just about any time. And while you of course want your reel covers to be aesthetically pleasing, you also want to make sure they give your audience enough info to know wtf your reel is even about.
It’s fine to have a few reel covers with plain imagery, but if you can, try to include at least a few words that explain why they should click your video. This will help your videos get more clicks on the explore page and when new people come to your page.
Experiment with Instagram’s Reorder Grid Feature
Okay, we saved the best for last because the Instagram gods finally answered our prayers! Remember those content-planning apps everyone used to make sure their feed looked aesthetic at all times? Welp, throw them in the trash because Instagram just released a new Reorder Grid Feature that allows you to restyle your entire feed!
